Discover the endless beauty of Door County, Wisconsin’s beloved peninsula—affectionately known as the “left thumb” of the state. Jutting into the sparkling waters of Lake Michigan, this breathtaking region invites you to explore sandy beaches, tranquil islands and orchards. Step back in time with historic lighthouses and charming small towns, or look upward for spectacular night skies—Newport State Park is proudly designated an International Dark Sky Place. Savor the flavors of the region at local wineries, stroll through lavender in bloom and experience the welcoming spirit that defines Door County.
Day 1: Sunday, August 16
Join your friends and make new ones, as we drive to Door County, Wisconsin, today; arriving late
afternoon, and checking into Stone Harbor Resort for the next four nights. Dinner is included at the
resort tonight. (D)

Day 2: Monday, August 17
Following breakfast this morning, we depart to take a ferry to Washington Island. We start with a stop at
Schoolhouse Beach. This lovely lakeshore beach has no sand but rather smooth limestone rocks that
pleasantly massage one’s feet while walking, but some people think that the rocks of this weird lakeshore beach hurt one’s feet so you should wear flip-flops if you want to walk to the water. Our next stop is the Washington Island Farm Museum where we will see pioneer farm buildings, tools and equipment, small farm animals and exhibits representing Washington Island’s pioneer farming, particularly of the horse-drawn era. Next, we visit The Stavkirke. Sitting in a small forest grove, a winding prayer path leads the way to the structure. The Stavkirke has become a vital part of the ministry of Trinity Lutheran. It is used year-round for special worship services and as a place of quiet meditation for many. Every year, thousands of people visit and spend a little time going back in time and listening for God’s “still small voice” in the quiet peacefulness that this place provides. Following an included lunch, it’s time for a little shopping at Mann’s Mercantile/Nelsen’s Hall before we board the ferry back to the mainland. Seaquist Orchards will be our next stop once we are back on the mainland. Seaquist Orchards operates a multi-generation family farm. “From our farm to your home, we make products, grown & processed locally, that your family will love.” Of course, we will have time for shopping everything cherry! Dinner is included tonight. (B, L, D)

Day 3: Tuesday, August 18
This morning, enjoy breakfast before we depart for Cave Point, perhaps the most iconic, natural landscape in all of Door County. Revered by divers, photographers, swimmers, hikers and all who visit, the beautifully carved rock faces that line the blue waters of Lake Michigan are quintessentially Door County. We will then have a surprise stop – wait for this – it’s guaranteed fun! Next, we can explore Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, that sits on the southern shore of Lake Winnebago. We have time to take a lakeside stroll or just soak in lovely scenic views over the lake. Following our lake stop, you can choose if you would like to visit Koepsel’s Farm Market or Wilder Lavender Farm. Koepsel’s has been around since 1958 and is the oldest farm market in northern Door County, carrying a wide variety of homemade jams, fruit butters, canned goods, fresh-bakery items, Wisconsin cheeses, smoked fish, Door County cherries and more. If instead you’re after an immersive outdoor experience —something scenic, fragrant and relaxed—Wilder Lavender Farm offers a different vibe. With over 20,000 lavender plants, it’s one of the Midwest’s larger lavender farms. Wander through fragrant rows of plants, take photos, feel the breeze and absorb the landscape. In the lavender shop, browse handcrafted lavender-products (soaps, lotions, culinary items) made from the farm’s own harvest. A delicious lunch is included at Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant – can’t miss seeing the goats grazing on the sod roof atop this casual log-cabin eatery serving traditional Swedish fare.

Continuing this beautiful day, we visit Eagle Tower, with its 850-foot, accessible canopy walk to the top of the tower. High above the Niagara Escarpment on the peninsula’s northeast shore, this is one of the most popular attractions in Door County. Eagle Tower, located on top of Eagle Bluff, offers panoramic views of the park, surrounding islands, the Upper Michigan shoreline and the village of Ephraim. Our next stop is Eagle Bluff Lighthouse for a guided tour. This historic lighthouse is perched on a bluff 76 feet above the Green Bay’s glistening waters.
The lighthouse’s lamp brought solace to many a sailor suffering through a storm’s gale or the dark of night. We move onward to do a little shopping in Fish Creek before attending the famous Door County Fish Boil at Peletier’s. (B, L, D)

Day 4: Wednesday, August 19
Following breakfast, our destination is the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay. The
museum celebrates the rich seafaring, shipbuilding and lighthouse legacy of the Door Peninsula and the
Great Lakes. Next, enjoy lunch on your own and a little shopping time in Egg Harbor. Next, we travel to
Door County Coffee and Door County Candle Company. In the Coffee café, there’s a gift shop where you’ll find dozens (over 100!) of coffee varieties, as well as gourmet foods, accessories and home décor. At the Candle Company, they hand-pour candles in small batches and have a “Candle Bar” where visitors can create their own soy candle. Before dinner, we experience Door Peninsula Winery located in a historic Door Peninsula Winery 1868 schoolhouse where we’ll have a chance to sample wines as well as shop in their sizable store. A delicious dinner is included tonight. (B, D)

Day 5: Thursday, August 20
We depart following breakfast, but as we make our way home, we have another fun stop to make. Mars
Cheese Castle is a favorite roadside destination in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Sample a few of the more than 700 kinds of cheese! Late this afternoon, we will be arriving in Southern Illinois full of the food, culture Mars Cheese Castle and fun of Door County. (B)
