Day 1: Thursday, August 20
We fly into Billings, Montana and begin with a visit to the Western Heritage Center where you have a choice between a Hat Experience or Hoof it with a Historian Tour. We overnight at the Hampton Inn West Billings and enjoy dinner in town. (D)
Day 2: Friday, August 21
Today we visit Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument before heading to Cody, Wyoming. There we stop at By Western Hands Museum, then enjoy dinner and a show at Cody Cattle Company, followed by the Cody Nite Rodeo. We stay two nights at the Holiday Inn Cody. (B, D)
Day 3: Saturday, August 22
Today we spend the day exploring Yellowstone National Park, including stops at Fishing Bridge, Yellowstone Lake, Old Faithful and Grand Prismatic Spring! Dinner is included tonight. (B, D)
Day 4: Sunday, August 23
We start our day with a visit to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West, where we explore the saga that is the real West in five, family-friendly museums: Draper Natural History Museum, Buffalo Bill Museum, Plains Indian Museum, Whitney Western Art Museum, and Cody Firearms Museum. The Buffalo Bill Center of the West shares the epic stories of Yellowstone and the American West together in one place. Then, we re-enter Yellowstone through Hayden Valley and Mammoth Hot Springs. We continue to Butte and check into the Copper King Hotel. Dinner tonight is included. (B, D)
Day 5: Monday, August 24
In Butte, we take a Historic Trolley Ride, tour the Copper King Mansion and visit the Serbian Orthodox Church. We then travel to Polson, stopping at the Miracle of America Museum. We stay two nights at the Kwataqnuk Resort & Casino. Dinner is on your own tonight. (B)
Day 6: Tuesday, August 25
This morning we enjoy a Flathead Lake Boat Cruise, explore Big Fork for shopping and lunch, and tour a local cherry orchard. Dinner is included tonight. (B, D)
Day 7: Wednesday, August 26
We start out today by enjoying the Going-to-the-Sun Road of Glacier National Park in the “Red Jammers” and making stops at Apgar Village and Lake McDonald Lodge. We end the day in Whitefish for shopping and dinner on our own, before checking into Grouse Mountain Lodge. (B, L)
Day 8: Thursday, August 27
This morning, we tour Ninepipes Museum, followed by a visit to the National Bison Range, an expanse of picturesque plains and rolling hills with the Rocky Mountains as the background. We then see the Garden of 1000 Buddhas and stop at the Aerial Fire Depot and Smokejumper Visitor Center, where we learn about the firefighting technique of parachuting to remote areas and the history of the program. This afternoon, we check into The Loge Hotel for the next two nights, with dinner included tonight. (B, D)
Day 9: Friday, August 28
Today is all about the Yellowstone TV Series sites!! We visit filming locations including Chief Joseph Ranch, Livestock Headquarters, Daly Mansion and local cafés. Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner at the hotel. (B, D)
Day 10: Saturday, August 29
On our final day, we see additional Yellowstone filming sites and the murals in the Capitol Building before heading to the airport. We travel home with wonderful memories of all that we explored together in Montana. (B)
