Day 1: Saturday, March 21
We begin our journey with a drive to Nashville to overnight in preparation for our early morning flight tomorrow. Our accommodations tonight are at the Drury Inn Nashville Airport, with an included Kickback Dinner at the hotel. (D)
Day 2: Sunday, March 22
After our morning flight, we arrive in sunny Arizona and head to Old Town Scottsdale for lunch. This charming district is filled with Western character, art galleries, and unique shops—perfect for a leisurely stroll and a bite to eat. Next, we visit the Heard Museum for a guided tour. Known for its world-class collection of Native American art and cultural artifacts, the museum provides fascinating insight into the traditions, stories, and artistry of the Southwest’s Indigenous peoples. We’ll then check into our home for the next three nights, the Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort. Nestled in the scenic North Mountain Preserve, this resort offers stunning views, beautifully landscaped grounds, and relaxing amenities, including cascading pools and a luxurious spa. Day 3: Monday, March 23
Today we step back in time with a visit to Goldfield Ghost Town, an authentic old mining town with wooden sidewalks, historic buildings, and a narrated train ride that circles the old mine and gives us a glimpse into Arizona’s Wild West past. Next, we’re off to Tortilla Flat, Arizona’s last surviving stagecoach stop. This quirky frontier town offers shops and food for lunch on your own. In the afternoon, we board the Dolly Steamboat for a relaxing cruise on Canyon Lake. As we glide through the dramatic desert canyons, we keep an eye out for bighorn sheep, eagles, and other wildlife that call this rugged landscape home. This evening, we enjoy a classic Southwestern meal at Aunt Chilada’s, known for its festive atmosphere and mouthwatering food. (B, D)
Day 4: Tuesday, March 24
Our morning begins at the incredible Musical Instrument Museum (MIM), where we explore thousands of instruments from every corner of the world. Interactive displays and global exhibits bring music history to life. Continuing our music theme, we enjoy a one-of-a-kind lunch at Organ Stop Pizza, where a massive Wurlitzer organ accompanies our meal with a live musical performance! Afterward, we return to the resort for a free afternoon to relax, explore the grounds, or perhaps take a dip in the pool. Dinner is on your own this evening—perfect for enjoying the resort’s options or discovering something new nearby. (B, L)
Day 5: Wednesday, March 25
We bid farewell to Phoenix and begin our journey north. Our first stop is the Copper Art Museum in Clarkdale, where we explore beautiful and functional pieces crafted from copper, that blend art, history and craftsmanship. Next, we pick up an included box lunch and board the Verde Canyon Railroad for a 4-hour afternoon ride through Arizona’s breathtaking Verde Canyon. From the comfort of our railcar, we take in the red rock cliffs, green valleys, and the occasional soaring eagle. This evening, we enjoy a Western-style evening at the Blazin’ M Ranch, complete with cowboy entertainment and a hearty chuckwagon dinner. We then settle into the Arabella Hotel Sedona for a two-night stay. The Arabella offers warm hospitality, peaceful courtyards, and easy access to trails and galleries. (B, L, D)
Day 6: Thursday, March 26
Today, we visit Grand Canyon National Park! On our journey there, we stop first at Bearizona, a unique drive-through wildlife park where we can safely view bears, bison, and wolves in a natural forest setting. After an included boxed lunch, we continue on to the majestic Grand Canyon, one of the world’s great natural wonders. Here, we enjoy a 3-hour Pink Jeep Desert View Tour, which takes us to stunning scenic overlooks and offers expert commentary on the canyon’s geology and history. We return to Sedona for dinner on your own in downtown Sedona, with plenty of shops and restaurants. (B, L)
Day 7: Friday, March 27
This morning, we climb aboard a Pink Jeep Tour right from our hotel! For those who prefer a smooth ride, the Red Rock Range Tour offers gentle terrain and breathtaking views. For the adventurous, the Broken Arrow Tour provides an exhilarating off-road experience (additional $70 applies). After the tour, we explore the Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village, modeled after a traditional Mexican village. With its cobblestone streets, art galleries, and charming boutiques, it’s a favorite stop for handcrafted treasures. We will have lunch on your own while at the Shopping village. Our journey takes us back to the Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort for our final night in Arizona. This evening, we will enjoy a farewell dinner at Different Pointe of View, one of Phoenix’s most scenic restaurants. Perched on a mountaintop, we’ll enjoy gourmet cuisine with sweeping views of the desert landscape. (B, D)
Day 8: Saturday, March 28
For those seeking a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, an optional Hot Air Balloon Ride is available this morning (additional cost $323 applies). Floating above the Sonoran Desert at sunrise is a truly magical experience. Afterward, we head to the airport with full hearts and unforgettable memories of the stunning landscapes, rich culture, and wonderful camaraderie we shared throughout our Arizona adventure. (B)
