The moment we arrive, we can feel the history and elegance that have made The Greenbrier a world-renowned destination for over two centuries. From its stately white façade to its lush gardens and bold, colorful interiors, every detail reflects timeless Southern charm and sophistication.

Day 1
We begin our journey with an overnight stay at the Hampton Inn in Barboursville, West Virginia, where we can relax and settle in before the grand experience awaiting us. Dinner is on your own at Cracker Barrel, adjacent to our hotel.

Day 2
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart for a visit to TAMARACK, The Best of West Virginia. Tamarack is the nation’s first statewide collection of handmade craft, art and cuisine showing the Best of West Virginia. Browse for special gifts, enjoy lunch on your own in the Taste of West Virginia Food Court (managed by The Greenbrier), and observe resident artisans creating works of art in textiles, wood, metal, glass and pottery. Then, we travel to The Greenbrier, the legendary and luxurious resort in White Sulphur Springs, in the Allegheny Mountains. Be sure to attend Afternoon High Tea, a very special complimentary treat and a Greenbrier tradition that guests have been enjoying since the 1930s. Nibble on a delightful selection of freshly prepared pastries and cookies beneath Dorothy Draper’s original custom-designed crystal chandeliers. Live music will provide entertainment as you savor the tea and delicacies. Dinner is included in the Main Dining Room. Dress code for ladies and gentlemen is to wear their finest. Jacket and tie required for men and dresses or evening suits for women. The evening is free for you to explore the hotel and enjoy the many amenities offered. Don’t miss the movie after dinner or perhaps live music in one of ten beautiful lobbies! (B, D)

Day 3
Breakfast is included this morning in the Main Dining Room. You may go at your leisure and order off the menu. Today is yours to enjoy the many recreational activities at The Greenbrier. You may choose to take the optional Bunker Tour,** The Bunker is now open to anyone interested in reliving a legendary piece of history. Bunker Tours provide a unique and in-depth look behind the hidden doors and let you explore an aspect of The Greenbrier that no other resort can claim.
During its Eisenhower-Era use, the Bunker provided four entrances—three to The Greenbrier’s grounds and one to the main building. It has a 25-ton blast door that opens with only 50 lbs. of pressure; decontamination chambers; 18 dormitories, to accommodate over 1,100 people; power plant with purification equipment and three 25,000-gallon water storage tanks; three 14,000-gallon diesel fuel storage tanks; communications area; clinic with 12 hospital beds, medical and dental operating rooms; laboratory; pharmacy; intensive care unit; cafeteria; meeting rooms for the House and Senate, the Governor’s Hall and Mountaineer room. The bunker is situated some 70 feet below the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Since the declassification of the Bunker in 1995, tours have become a must-try for any history buff! Dinner is included in the Main Dining Room tonight. (B, D)

Day 4
Breakfast is included this morning before we depart for home, taking our necessary stops, with wonderful memories of life in a different time. (B)

**BUNKER TOUR: ($52) – 90-minute walking tour
For those seeking something truly unforgettable, you can choose to take the famous Greenbrier Bunker Tour, a behind-the-scenes look at the once top-secret Cold War bunker hidden beneath the resort. This 112,544 square-foot shelter is carved deep into the mountainside beneath our West Virginia Wing. In 1958, President Dwight Eisenhower ordered the construction of an underground bunker to house Congress in the event of a national crisis. The Installation was in constant “ready” status until 1995, when a Washington Post reporter revealed its presence. The White Sulphur Springs community, many of whom worked on the facility, had kept the secret for nearly 40 years! Today, if you’re a guest of the resort, you can tour the bunker, a chilling relic of the Cold War. The declassified Bunker at The Greenbrier is a must-see experience that takes you behind the scenes and walks you through a fascinating period in the resort’s history.
