TWILIGHT RIVERBOAT CRUISE
June 21 - 24, 2023

Twilight Riverboat Cruise

June 21 – 24, 2023

From the Quad Cities to Dubuque, Iowa

If you love the Mississippi River and want time to relax, then this is the tour for you! Completed in 1987, the Twilight is a replica of the lavish Victorian steamboats of a century ago. Her unique rounded stern and ornate architectural detailing are reminders of those classic riverboats Mark Twain called “Floating Palaces.” Each afternoon on board features a variety of folk musicians and humorists. The Twilight Captain brings the history and stories of the river to life. You may even be invited up to the pilot house to experience the river the same way Mark Twain did over 150 years ago.

DAY 1, June 21:
We will travel through Illinois to the Quad Cities area today. The Quad cities unites the states of Illinois and Iowa with the four cities of Moline, Rock Island, Bettendorf and Davenport. We will stop along the way for lunch on your own. Our lodging tonight is Bally’s Quad Cities Hotel and Casino. You will receive $5 play tonight and Wednesday night. For dinner, a $20 food voucher is included. (D)

DAY 2, June 22:
This morning, we will board the Twilight Riverboat in LeClaire, Iowa, for a two-day cruise on the Mississippi River, a 94-mile voyage where you will experience Locks No. 12 and 13. There will be an expanded continental breakfast waiting for you on board as we depart north on our journey. There will be lots of beautiful river scenes, birds of all kinds, including bald eagles, white pelicans and beautiful snowy egrets. There is the Dutch settlement at Fulton with its windmill, the grave site of President Ronald Reagan’s father, the gothic mansion at Belleview, known as Spring Hill House and the grave site of Julian Dubuque, “the Miner of the Mines of Spain,” as it towers high above the river. The food aboard The Twilight is delicious and you will enjoy a continental breakfast, morning snack, scrumptious lunch, afternoon snack and a bountiful dinner. There is also a lounge aboard the Twilight, if you would like something to drink other than lemonade and coffee, which are available all day. The captain will be our guide to the wildlife, valley landscapes and historic river towns. There will be live entertainment and Bingo aboard the riverboat during the day. You might want to just lounge on the outside deck and enjoy the sunshine and beautiful view.

After dinner, the Twilight will dock along the Mississippi River Walk in the Port of Dubuque where we will overnight at the riverfront Grand Harbor Resort. The evening is free to explore the city of 5 flags; France, Spain, Great Britain, Napoleon and USA. (B, L, D)

DAY 3,  June 23:
Following breakfast at Tony Roma’s in the hotel, we have the morning free to take a trolley to the Diamond Jo Casino, visit Iowa’s #1 attraction, must-see Smithsonian-accredited National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium (ticket included), visit Felton Place Elevator or perhaps shop at Cable Car Square, Dubuque’s most famous shopping neighborhood, centered around the world’s shortest, steepest scenic railway. A continuous shuttle to the many activities will depart from the main lobby of the hotel throughout the morning.

Reboard the Twilight at 11:00am and depart for our return journey. Take in the sites and listen to the Captain’s narration that you missed on Day 1. Enjoy lunch and dinner while we enjoy afternoon entertainment and view the beautiful Mississippi River. Upon our return to LeClaire following dinner, our motorcoach will transport us back to Bally’s Hotel for the night. Complimentary $5 play included. (B, L, D)

DAY 4,  June 24:
After breakfast ($15 breakfast voucher), we depart this morning, stopping for a riding tour of the John Deere Harvester Works or the John Deere Pavilion (based on availability) in East Moline that manufactures combines and associated headers.
