December 2-6, 2021

The Broadway League announced today that owners and operators of all 41 Broadway theatres in New York City will require Covid-19 vaccinations for audience members as well as performers and backstage crew and theatre staff for all performances through October, 2021. Masks will be required for audiences inside the theatre except while eating and drinking in designated areas.
Under the policy, audiences will need to be fully designated with an FDA or WHO authorized vaccine in order to attend a show and must show proof of vaccination at the time of entry with their valid ticket. “Fully vaccinated” means the performance date must be at least 14 days after the second dose of a two-dose Covid-19 vaccine or at least 14 days after the single-dose Covid-19 vaccine.
Exceptions are being made for children under 12 and people with a medical condition or closely held religious belief that prevents vaccination. These guests must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 72 hours of the performance start time, or a negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within 6 hours of the performance start time.

The first Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center was erected in 1931, during the  construction of Rockefeller Center, when workers decorated a smaller 20 foot balsam fir with strings of cranberries, garlands of paper, and even a few tin cans. The lighting of the 50-foot-tall first official tree was two years later and the tree became what Rockefeller Center dubbed “a holiday beacon for New Yorkers and visitors alike”. A skating rink was opened below the tree in the plaza in 1936. Since then, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree has been a yearly tradition.  According to Rockefeller Center’s website, the tree was “from the beginning … a gathering place and reflection of what was happening in the world around it”.    (D)

She defied expectations, she rocked the royals, and she created a legacy that will endure forever.

The Nutcracker – NYCB’s landmark version of the Balanchine favorite, which The New York Times has called “the gold standard” Nutcracker, premiered on February 2, 1954 and helped to establish The Nutcracker and its score as perennial favorites in the United States. A signature event of the holiday season in New York City, with the exception of the 2020 season when performances were cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this treasured classic had been performed by NYCB every year since its premiere more than 65 years ago. From the moment the lights dim, you will be transported to a magical place filled with adorable children, marching toy soldiers, a glowing one-ton Christmas tree that seemingly grows forever, mischievous mice, crystalline waltzing snowflakes, the Land of Sweets and some of the most breathtaking costumes, sets and dancing on earth. Your choice; just let Jane know before final payment.  (B,D)
