Day 1, September 11
Today, we begin our journey, traveling through Indiana and Ohio, overnighting at the Drury Inn, Dublin, Ohio. The Inn offers a “Kick Back” light dinner or there are several restaurants within walking distance.
Day 2, September 12
We continue traveling through Pennsylvania and New York State, entering Canada and arriving at our destination, Niagara Falls, Ontario, this afternoon. We check into the Marriott on the Falls for the next three nights. The hotel overlooks the Falls and all rooms will be falls-view.
Dinner is included at the Revolving Dining Room of Skylon Tower. The tower is one of Canada’s most famous landmarks, with indoor/outdoor observation of the Falls from 775 feet! Relax and enjoy the magic of the Falls illumination and the dazzling city lights below as we revolve silently 360 degrees once each hour. Enjoy a delicious dinner with magnificent views of the Falls! (B, D)
This afternoon, we will take a Hornblower Falls Cruise, by far the most famous attraction other than the Falls themselves! The voyage to the Falls will take you from the Canadian dock at the base of the Great Gorge, past the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and the awesome up-close and personal connection with the thundering water, awesome power and amazing mist of the mighty Horseshoe Falls! We will then return to the hotel for a little free time before an included dinner tonight. (B, D)
We will then continue to historic Niagara-on-the Lake, the first capital of Canada, situated on the south shore of Lake Ontario at the mouth of the Niagara River and often called the loveliest town in Ontario. There will be time for lunch on your own and visiting the unique specialty shops in this delightful town. While in wine country, a visit to one of the local wineries is a must, for a tour and sampling of the local specialty, ice wine.
We then return to our hotel to freshen up before departing for a special Canadian performance and dinner at Oh Canada Eh! Dinner Show, a seven-time winner of the “Niagara Falls Attraction of the Year.” All ages enjoy this patriotic musical celebration of Canada! Enjoy great food while you laugh along with their colorful cast of Canadian characters in their rustic log cabin theatre. While you’re enjoying the show, a cast member will serve you their famous all-Canadian, family-style meal. At what other restaurant are you served your meal by a singing Mountie? (B, D)
Day 5, September 15
We depart this morning, traveling to Surgarcreek, Ohio, where we will be joined by a local guide for a tour of Ohio Amish Country. We will then tour the Warther Museum and Gardens, home of the World’s Master Carver, to view sixty-four of Ernest Warther’s ebony, ivory, and walnut hand-carved masterpieces. In addition to his carvings, the collection contains his wife, Frieda’s, 73,000 piece button collection, Swiss-style gardens, and 5,500 piece Native American arrowhead collection. We will have a private dinner at Warther Museum, as well! (B, D)
