During Candlelight Christmas Evenings, Biltmore House greets you with the soft glow of luminaries and twinkling lights on a towering Norway spruce on the Front Lawn. Inside, candlelight, firelight, and holiday lights reflect on thousands of ornaments decorating dozens of Christmas trees throughout the grand rooms. Live performances of traditional Christmas music add to your evening visit. Our self-guided Candlelight visit also includes daytime admission to Antler Hill Village & Winery, gardens and shops on the day of our evening visit.
We travel to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, today, stopping at the beautiful Inn at Christmas Place tonight. Dinner is included before attending CHRISTMAS AT THE SMOKY MOUNTAIN OPRY, a multi-million-dollar Christmas production that you’re sure to love! (D)
Following a delicious breakfast this morning, we depart for Asheville, N.C., home of the Biltmore Estate!
Upon arrival, we begin our visit with a Biltmore Legacy of the Land Tour. We will go back in time with a 90-minute narrated tour aboard our motorcoach. We will learn about the history of the land, structures and former residents from a guide while visiting areas of the estate not usually open to guests.
Lunch is included at Deerpark Restaurant, located in a scenic area between Biltmore House and Antler Hill Village. Deerpark is one of several hand-some structures designed by architect Richard Howland Hunt in the 1900s for George Vanderbilt’s farm operations.
Originally serving as a calving barn, Deerpark has been renovated into a unique open-air restaurant in a beautiful pastoral setting. The name “Deerpark” is taken from the nearby area Mr. Vanderbilt set aside as a deer preserve on the estate. We will then visit Antler Hill Village and Winery. Antler Hill Village is Biltmore’s more relaxed side—a gathering place for guests where you can shop, explore and relax throughout the year. One stop we won’t miss at the Village is The Biltmore Winery, America’s most-visited winery, where you can see how they make award-winning vintages and enjoy complimentary wine tastings.
You’ll have the opportunity to see the newest exhibit, The Vanderbilts at Home & Abroad. This exhibit will explore the lives of the Vanderbilts and dis-play objects unique to their lifestyle as well as treasures collected during their world travels.
You will also be able to see the Farmyard and glimpse farm life in the early 1900s with knowledge-able interpreters and exhibits in their historic Antler Hill Barn.
It will then be time to check into the Inn on Biltmore Estate, recipient of top awards year after year from AAA, Forbes Travel Guide, Travel & Leisure and Trip Advisor. An overnight stay at this four-star Inn dressed in dazzling holiday finery may be the ultimate Christmas experience. The Inn was voted #1 South’s Best Hotel 2017 by the readers of Southern Living Magazine.
Dinner is included tonight at the Stable Café, housed in the historic Stable area, with southern comfort food and friendly ambiance that makes the café a favorite stop before visiting Biltmore House. We will dine in renovated horse stalls transformed from a 19th century stable.
Following dinner, enjoy the Biltmore House Candlelight Christmas Evening Tour at your leisure, with audio guides. Upon entering the Biltmore House, you will experience the holidays wreathed with the wonder of this magnificent house. The celebration presents Christmas on a grand scale with dozens of trees decorated by their talented staff, accented with miles of ribbon, garlands and lights. To visit Biltmore House, America’s largest home, is to cross the threshold into a world of beauty and hospitality that has remained virtually unchanged for more than a century. When you have finished touring the Biltmore, you may take the free trolley transfer to The Inn.
