Monday, September 28

Wednesday, September 30
Travel to Vermont today, arriving this afternoon to the beautiful Green Mountains of Vermont and check into the Lake Morey Resort for a relaxing two-night stay. The resort offers lovely views of the lake and mountains beyond! Upon arrival, we’ll receive a warm greeting and refreshing welcome reception. Take some time to settle in before enjoying a delicious dinner together. (Meals – $10 breakfast coupon, D)

Thursday, October 1
Enjoy breakfast before setting out for a day of touring around Vermont enjoying splendid foliage and countryside. We’ll begin the day with a visit to Morse Sugar Works, a traditional Maple Sugar house for a demonstration and sugar-on-snow tasting. Mid-day we’ll venture to the famous Trapp Family Lodge! Here, we’ll enjoy a wonderful planned lunch together in their Bierhall! After lunch, take some time to explore the Trapp Family Lodge grounds before we venture into Stowe Village for a visit to the Stowe Merchantile for authentic New England items and sample many tasty Vermont specialty treats. We’ll finish off the day with a visit to The Vermont Annex which houses Cabot Cheese, Lake Champlain Chocolates and Smuggler’s Notch Distillery for lots of yummy samples! We’ll return to the Inn and enjoy dinner on your own this  evening. Later, we’ll gather for a traditional bonfire and S’mores! (B, L)

The Kangamangus Highway

Kancamagus Highway and enjoy a ride on New Hampshire’s longest scenic Gondola Skyride. We travel up the 2,733-foot summit of Loon Peak, for breathtaking views of the surrounding White Mountains. Continue ‘downeast’ through Maine arriving at Mount Desert Island where we’ll  check into the Holiday Inn Bar Harbor Resort for a relaxing two-night stay. Tonight, enjoy dinner together. (B, D)

Saturday, October 3
After breakfast this morning, we’ll tour through one of America’s beautiful and treasured National Parks; Acadia National Park. Visit Thunder Hole along with other scenic picture stops and travel to the top of Cadillac Mountain for spectacular views of Frenchman’s Bay, Porcupine Islands and Bar Harbor. Enjoy free time and lunch on own in Bar Harbor. This afternoon, enjoy a thrilling 4-hr Whale Watch Cruise out of Frenchman’s Bay to view these magnificent mammals frolic in their ocean playground! Tonight, enjoy a traditional down east Clambake style Lobster dinner at one of Bar Harbor’s great restaurants. (B, D)

Portland Head Light

Sunday, October 4
Enjoy breakfast before checking out and traveling south to the largest City in Maine – Portland, described as ‘the beautiful town that is seated by the sea’ by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Enjoy a tour of the Old Port Exchange, a thriving waterfront which once was the heart of  Portland’s busy 19th century commercial ventures and continues to be the center of activity today. Then enjoy a visit to the Portland Head Light, commissioned by George Washington and one of the oldest continuously operating lights in the country. Continue on to the popular summer resort of Kennebunkport for a scenic drive along the ocean to Walker’s Point, passing the summer home of past President George H.W. Bush. Later, arrive at the delightful village of Ogunquit, named by the Abenaki Indians which means, “Beautiful place by the Sea” and check into the Anchorage by the Sea in Ogunquit for the evening. Tonight, enjoy a delicious dinner at one of Ogunquit’s great restaurants. (B, D)

Cape Cod

Monday, October 5
Enjoy breakfast before we check out and depart for Cape Cod! Enjoy a drive through the coastal village of York for a picture stop at one the most photographed lighthouses in the country, Cape Neddick Light, or more popularly known as “the Nubble.” We’ll continue south to America’s hometown of Plymouth. This year the town is celebrating the 400th Anniversary of the Mayflower voyage and founding of the Plymouth Colony! Enjoy free time for lunch on your own along the waterfront. A guided tour including a picture stop to the National Monument to the Forefathers, Plymouth Rock along beautiful Plymouth Harbor. This afternoon, breathe the salt sea air and enjoy the coastal breezes as we arrive to the beautiful shores of Cape Cod and tour through the Cape’s oldest town of Sandwich, with views of the village, Shawne Pond, Dexter Grist Mill and Sandwich Glass Museum. We’ll finish off the day with a tour through Hyannisport, home to the Kennedys, enjoying a picture stop at the Kennedy Memorial and Korean War Memorial overlooking scenic Veteran’s Beach. Later this  afternoon, arrive at the Red Jacket Beach Resort, located directly on the beach overlooking spectacular Nantucket Sound, for a relaxing two-night stay. Upon arrival, receive a warm greeting and refreshing welcome reception! Relax and freshen up before enjoying a delicious welcome dinner tonight. (B, D)

Tuesday, October 6
After breakfast, we’ll venture to Woods Hole and board the Steamship Authority Ferry for a short cruise to the beautiful Island of Martha’s Vineyard. Located seven miles off the coastline, this Island offers a vacation ambience unlike any other. Once an early refuge for coastal ship traffic, it blossomed into a whaling community in the 18th and 19th century and evolved to what is now a popular tourist destination. Explore the diversity of its island towns, take a walk along our pristine shores, and step back in time to a more leisurely pace. Enjoy a guided tour of Oak Bluffs which is noted for its collection of small Carpenter Gothic cottages clustered in the Methodist Camp Meeting Grounds and Edgartown, known for its stately Greek revival homes built by sea captain of years ago. This afternoon, we’ll return to the mainland and enjoy a planned dinner at one of the Cape’s popular restaurants. (B, D)

Wednesday, October 7

Newport Harbor Hotel


Following breakfast, we’ll depart for Newport, RI – known as America’s first resort, yachting capital of the world and the Nautical Playground of the rich and famous. Once in Newport, enjoy a tour along the magnificent Ten Mile Drive, for a step back in time to the opulent era of the Gilded age where elite families such as the Vanderbilt’s and Astor’s built their “summer cottages” to retreat from the city life.  Then we’ll tour the grand dame of all the Mansions – The Breakers. This 70 room Renaissance-style villa was built by Cornelius Vanderbilt II. Enjoy the afternoon at our leisure along Newport’s waterfront for lunch, shopping and sightseeing. Later, we’ll check into The Newport Harbor Hotel, located on Newport’s waterfront. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner together at one of Newport’s great restaurants! (B, D)

Thursday, October 8
Enjoy breakfast this morning before we check out and begin our journey home taking wonderful stories and memories of our vacation to New England! Tonight, we stay in The Inn At Leola Village in Leola, Pennsylvania, the only AAA Four Diamond and Forbes Four Star experience of all Lancaster, PA, hotels. Dinner is included at the hotel tonight. Friday, October 9
Continue homeward, stopping at the Drury Inn in Columbus, Ohio, tonight. (B, Drury Kickback dinner)
